Dr. Dan, The travel physician

A sole founder came to us with a broad vision and asked us to put together a engineering and development strategy. He had seed funding and support and a ton of love for medicine. Dr Dan himself is a traveling ER doc and serves communities that struggle to find care in the rural rocky mountain west. He saw a way to alleviate the resource constraint patients feel and mapped out a multi-million dollar build strategy that would incorporate a “boil the ocean”/ “everything, and the kitchen sink” approach.

Tango supported Dan to believe in the potential of his vision, but to strike out on a path to a well defined MVP that would be informed in the context of a design sprint. We protected him from spending hundreds of thousands developing the exact wrong things in code, and supported him to identify the “just right” path to his success.

What was the situation/problem?
Our client had a rough sketch of a startup, but was uncertain if he wanted to create a chronic disease management app, or something else.

How was the problem solved?
The team ran a design workshop to narrow down the goals and key questions that needed to be resolved then created and reviewed various prototypes. These prototypes then went through a week of user testing to uncover UX needs, and extract key insights to be implemented in the MVP.

How did the design solution alleviate project oversight and save resources, time, and bandwidth?
Guiding our client through the design process made sure their voice was represented in the initial product approach and reduced risk through testing the product before a line of code was written.
